Got a question? We've got the answer.

Everything you need to know about Dry Styxâ„¢ - how it works, how long it lasts, and why it beats the alternatives.

How it works.

How is Dry Styx different from those crystal desiccant buckets?

Traditional desiccant products — like crystal buckets — are made from calcium chloride. When they absorb moisture from the air, that moisture transforms into a liquid waste that you have to carefully dispose of. Then you buy another one. And another.

Dry Styx works completely differently. The internal membrane is made from silicon dioxide (SiO₂) — the same natural material found in quartz. It catches and traps moisture directly on the membrane surface without ever converting it to liquid. No mess, no hazardous waste, no ongoing cost.

Every Tower and Pod has a built-in moisture indicator. When the unit is dry and actively protecting your home, the indicator shows bright orange. When it's fully saturated and ready for regeneration, it shifts to dark green or black.

There's no guesswork involved — just watch the colour and regenerate when it tells you to.

It varies depending on your home's moisture levels, climate, and where the units are placed. In very damp conditions, Pods can saturate within days. In drier environments, Towers can go for weeks or longer.

As a rough guide, if you currently use desiccant buckets, expect a similar turnaround — the underlying conditions haven't changed, only the product handling them. Always let the colour indicator be your guide rather than a fixed schedule.

Yes. Mould needs moisture to grow and spread. By continuously extracting airborne moisture from the areas where mould is most likely to take hold — under beds, inside wardrobes, in corner walls, bathrooms, and laundries — Dry Styx removes the primary condition mould needs to thrive.

It won't remove existing mould, but it goes a long way to stopping it from spreading further and returning.

Regeneration.

How do I regenerate the Towers?

Place the Tower directly onto the Heat Regeneration Port, switch it on, and let it run. The port drives direct vertical heat up through the Tower, evaporating all trapped moisture. When the indicator returns to bright orange, it's fully dry and ready to use again. This typically takes 60 to 90 minutes.

Place the Pod Dock onto the Heat Regeneration Port base, load your Pods into the dock's four compartments, and place the heat extraction cover over the top. Switch the port on and regeneration begins automatically. Again, bright orange means they're done — usually within 60 to 90 minutes.

The moisture evaporates back into the air as water vapour. For this reason, always regenerate near an open window or doorway - and well away from the damp-affected areas of your home. You don't want to put the moisture straight back where you just removed it from.

No — please don't. Microwaves and conventional ovens will damage the structural integrity of the outer shells and distort the units, preventing them from regenerating correctly in the Heat Regeneration Port. Always use the included port for best results and to protect your warranty.

The System.

What's the difference between the Towers and the Pods?

The Modular Twin Tower is designed for larger, open spaces. Each Tower can be used whole or split into two half-towers for separate areas. They're ideal under beds, around condensation-prone windows, in corner walls, bathrooms, laundries, and living areas.

The Pods are built for tight micro-spaces where air barely circulates — inside wardrobe drawers, shoe storage, clothing areas, pantries, camera bags, car boots, and anywhere you store electronics or valuable items. You receive four Pods in the system.

The complete 6-piece system includes: 1 × Modular Twin Tower (splits into 2 half-towers), 4 × Targeted Pods, 1 × Heat Regeneration Port, 1 × Pod Dock (base), and 1 × Pod Heat Extraction Shroud. Everything you need is included — there's nothing else to buy to get started.

Not at all. Dry Styx are 100% non-toxic and completely safe to handle with bare hands at all times — including around children and pets. There's no chemical waste, no corrosive liquid, and no hazardous byproducts. This is one of the key differences from traditional calcium chloride desiccant buckets, which require careful handling and disposal.

Lifespan & Cost.

How long will a Dry Styx system last?

Testing indicates a minimum service life of 2 to 3 years, though actual lifespan will vary depending on your climate, how frequently the units are regenerated, and ambient temperature. The Heat Regeneration Port and accessories carry a 24-month warranty. The Towers and Pods themselves carry a 12-month minimum warranty.

Yes. Replacements are always available through our customer service team in Five Dock, Sydney. We've operated from the same location for over 38 years, so you can rely on us to keep you supplied for the long term. Call us on 1800 979 763 or reach out via the contact page.

No ongoing cost for the life of the system — that's the whole point. Unlike desiccant buckets that require constant repurchasing, Dry Styx regenerates repeatedly with nothing more than electricity. When you eventually do need replacements after 2 to 3 years of use, our team can help you with that.

Safety & Science.

What is Dry Styx actually made of?

The internal membrane uses silicon dioxide (SiO₂) — a naturally occurring material better known as quartz. At its core is a tetrahedral lattice structure that dramatically increases surface area, allowing it to aggressively capture airborne moisture without any chemical reaction taking place. The technology has been used for decades in semiconductor manufacturing and medical device industries where moisture control is critical.

Yes. All required safety data sheets and testing results have been provided to and approved by the relevant regulators — a mandatory requirement before any product can be sold via television broadcast in Australia. Full documentation is available on request.
